Report: John Rhys-Davies (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) will be returning as Sallah Mohammed Faisel el-Kahir in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny aka Indiana Jones 5 as previously confirmed. Rhys-Davies’ Sallahg won’t be making a comeback to the franchise alone this time round as he is set to introduce two grandchildren into the mix played by Ali Saleh and Amara Khan.

Dial of Destiny will mark Rhys-Davies’ third time portraying Sallah in the Indiana Jones franchise. Sallah first appeared in Raiders of the Lost Ark and returned in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The new and upcoming fifth instalment will most likely be Rhys-Davies’ last time playing the character.
Sallah Has Grandchildren In Dial Of Destiny
Sallah is introducing two grandchildren to the Indiana Jones franchise, could this be a setup for a spinoff to carry on Rhys-Davies’ character’s legacy?
Sallah’s two grandchildren are Jabari who is played by Ali Saleh and Alia who is played by Amara Khan. These new additions may just be to show that Sallah has settled down and is enjoying just being a quiet family man. Unless Disney potentially has plans to spin off into a Sallah-legacy project featuring both Saleh and Khan’s Jabari and Alia.
A spinoff project that dives into Sallah’s legacy has not been announced or teased in any way shape or form. It wouldn’t be the biggest surprise though as Disney is known for spinning off their biggest franchises to churn out more content for their streamer.

Rhys-Davies is known for his great contribution of work to the entertainment and film industry. Tolkien fans will know him best as Gimli from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He currently has over a dozen upcoming titles listed on IMDB so it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that the potential is there for a Sallah-based spinoff series for Disney Plus.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny comes to theatres on June 30, 2023.
