Last week, a report was shared by Variety that Disney and Marvel Studios’ bosses discussed bringing back the original six Avengers for another movie – a discussion that reportedly happened during a retreat earlier this year.
The original six Avengers include Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/ Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Natalia Romanova/ Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/ Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/ MCU’s ex-Captain America.
Downey Jr. and Johansson’s status in the MCU is un-alive as both of their characters sacrificed themselves during the Avengers: Endgame movie, and have remained that way since then.
Evans’ Steve Rogers is alive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, he time travelled back to his original time era (the 1940s) and rekindled his romance with ex-flame Peggy Carter (played by Haylee Atwell).
Kevin Feige Debunks Avengers Rumour
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, on the red carpet for The Marvels, MCU boss Feige debunked some of the recent reports that came out of a recent retreat that he attended with fellow Disney execs.
When asked if any discussions were had about the return of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark to the MCU, Feige says that they “did not discuss that”.
However, Feige did confirm that a “secret project” with Johansson is still in the works, it’s just unclear if the project will include the return of her Black Widow character or if she will be joining the studio to direct/produce.
Feige debunks the rumour by saying “Fallen Avengers returning? Is that a new? I’ve literally not seen that, is that a new rumour?”
“We did not discuss that,” he confirms to Entertainment Tonight in the video above.
He adds that this “is the truth” and that they’re “doing a project with Scarlett [Johansson],” and that he “loves Robert [Downey Jr.], he’s a part of the family, but in terms of returning… we’ll have to see.”
