Newcomer Maia Kealoha has been cast as Lilo in Disney’s live-action remake of the 2002 Lilo & Stitch movie, also starring Zach Galifianakis and original Stitch voice actor Chris Sanders, which is currently set to release sometime in 2024.
Dean Fleischer Camp is set to direct the project, with previous credits such as the best-animated feature Oscar nominee Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, with the remake heading for a Disney Plus release sometime next year.
Knight Edge Media were the first to report the news with The Hollywood Reporter shortly after confirming the news that child actress Maia Kealoha will be taking on the role of Lilo for the major Disney+ title Lilo & Stitch, with details that Disney has yet to comment on the news.
Despite the majority of Disney’s live-action remakes heading straight to theatres, Lilo & Stitch is still set for a Disney+ release, slated as a major title, it’s safe to expect a surge of new subscribers who will want to watch the remake of the classic animated version.
The cast and crew of Lilo & Stitch (2024) are yet to comment on the news, but seeing that the casting is making its rounds, it’s also safe to assume an official announcement will be made fairly soon from the studio.
The live-action remake of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch is set to come out sometime in 2024.
