The live-action movie adaptation of one of the most popular games in the world, Minecraft, has officially landed a release date of April 4, 2025, with Jason Momoa still set to star in a lead role in the highly anticipated title.
The movie will be directed by Jared Hess (Napolean Dynamite, Nacho Libre), with Chris Bowman (Masterminds, American Fork) and Hubbel Palmer (Masterminds, American Fork) attached to write for the live-action adaptation.
Minecraft‘s live-action movie which comes out in 2025 will be about the malevolent Ender Dragon, who sets out on a path of destruction, prompting a young girl and her group of unlikely adventurers to set out to save the Overworld, similar to the original game.
Minecraft was first released back in 2011 and quickly became one of the most played games every single year since its launch, later to have its parent company Mojang bought by Microsoft back in 2014, and has remained that way since.
Jason Momoa is the only confirmed cast member to be starring in the live-action 2025 Minecraft movie, however, with the release date being set, it’s safe to expect some new announcements throughout the rest of 2023.
The live-action Minecraft movie releases exclusively in theatres on April 4, 2025.
