YouTube Drama Alert!
In the live video, which many believed to be a clickbait joke of some kind, Markiplier briefly explains that Nestor aka CrankGameplays “betrayed” him.
How Ethan Nestor “Betrayed” Markiplier
Markiplier explained that he had talked in confidence to Nestor about a new content idea, which was to do a new series on the indie Steam title Egghead Gumpty.
He then continues to say that days after, Nestor uploaded a video titled “This Is The New Standard For Horror Games” in which he plays the aforementioned title.
During the live stream, Markipler expresses that he’s “not doing well” and feels “betrayed”, as well as revealing he has unsubscribed to Nestor’s channel.
He also answered questions from his viewers such as if he was still friends with Nestor, to which he simply said no, he is no longer friends with Nestor.
It’s possible that the beef is satirical though, as some fans pointed out, see below.
Is Markiplier & Ethan Nestor’s Beef Real?
Some viewers of the new video seemed unsure if they could trust what was being presented, with one even asking mid-stream if this was all just fake drama.
Markiplier responded to the unsure viewers by saying that this being fake would be “absurd” before joking that whoever’s asking is “probably Ethan on his alt account”.
Despite Markiplier seemingly confirming that this is all real drama between the two, it’s still unsure how real the beef between them is, something only time will tell.
Judging by Markiplier’s response to the thought that his being “betrayed” was all a satirical bit, it’s safe to assume that he is probably just joking about the matter.
He does take a short moment to confirm that Nestor did truly steal one of his video ideas, but as to if he has fallen out with him over it will take time to be revealed.
As mentioned, Markiplier’s reaction is most likely just a satirical one.
Why Stealing Video Ideas Is Serious
Markiplier also took time during the new stream to explain this although this is “just a video”, it has the potential to be much bigger, and become much larger.
One example could be when Markiplier originally played Five Nights at Freddy’s, a gameplay series that branded him as the “King of FNAF” and brought millions of new eyes to the video game franchise that is so big now, it’s got its own movie.
Hence his frustration at his friend stealing a gameplay series idea, as sometimes lesser-known game have the potential to turn into extremely popular video game franchises that later one day turn into large-scale live-action movies, starting with popular YouTubers simply playing them.
