2 years ago during Disney Investor Day, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced Armor Wars, starring Don Cheadle. It was supposed to be a series about Tony Stark’s worst fear coming true: what happens when his tech falls into the wrong hands? After that preliminary announcement, Marvel went surprisingly quite. Even at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, where announcements regarding Secret Wars and Daredevil: Born Again were made, not a syllable was uttered about Armor Wars. Some fans even began theorising if it had been merged with Ironheart, or worse, cancelled. Fortunately, none of that has happened, as confirmed by Feige himself at this year’s D23 presentation. The events of this series will pick up directly after Secret Invasion, as confirmed by Marvel Studios.
Marvel Shakes Up Armor Wars’ Development
The Hollywood Reporter and Marvel themselves confirmed that Armor Wars is undergoing redevelopment as a feature film. THR’s sources say the studio was committed in getting the story told the right way and in that process realized that a feature was better suited for the project. Just like all other MCU movies, it will release theatrically, and not on Disney+.
They also reported that Yassir Lester, who was head writer on the series, will remain as its scribe. This movie has pushed this project further down their release slate.
