Marvel Studios Has Reportedly Cast This Actor To Play Fantastic Four's Thing

Yet another casting rumour for Marvel Studios‘ live-action Fantastic Four reboot has surfaced, this time for Ben Grimm aka The Thing.

This new rumour states that actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear, The Punisher) is reportedly set to star as and presumably voice the iconic Marvel character.

Marvel’s The Thing has previously been played in live-action by actors Michael Chiklis (The Shield) and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) with Chiklis playing the character twice.

20th Century Fox, now 20th Century Studios, attempted twice to create a successful Fantastic Four movie franchise before both attempts came to a halt.

First in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie which saw Chris Evans take on the role of the Human Torch, then later in the 2015 remake with the same name.

Since Disney fully merged with 20th Century Fox, now 20th Century Studios, the live-action movie rights for Fantastic Four now belong in the hands of Marvel Studios.

According to the spoilers group known as @DCEUleaks, The Bear and The Punisher star Ebon Moss-Bachrach is “set to play The Thing” in Fantastic Four.

This wouldn’t be Moss-Bachrach’s first outing in the Marvel world as he starred alongside Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle as Microchip in The Punisher season 1.

The Punisher was then a Netflix-Marvel property but now, similar to 20th Century Studios, belongs solely to Disney therefore to Marvel Studios.

This has yet to be disproven or confirmed by the cast and crew of the movie, with any response not expected to happen anytime soon due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

Various actors and actresses have been rumoured to be starring in the next live-action The Thing, including Family Guy and That ’70s Show star Mila Kunis.

Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn was also rumoured recently to be eyed for the role of Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch and fellow key Fantastic Four member.

This news came shortly after reports that actor Paul Mescal (Aftersun) was offered the role of the Human Torch but potentially refused.

Speaking of the Marvel Storm family, Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One star Vanessa Kirby also seems to be down to play Johnny Storm’s sister Sue aka the Invisible Woman and full name Susan Storm.

However, as mentioned, literally no casting details have been shared officially by the cast and crew of the 2025 Fantastic Four movie as of writing.

Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four is currently slated for May 2, 2025.
