Matthew Lillard (Scream, Scooby-Doo) was officially shown for the first time as the live-action William Afton in Blumhouse’s upcoming adaptation of the popular video game series entitled Five Nights at Freddy’s, but who is he?
William Afton is known by many for being the sinister villain behind the evil doings of the FNAF storyline, being responsible for animatronics such as Freddy Fazbear being possessed by the ghosts of children that he killed in his past life, later to haunt even more victims from the afterlife.

Horror and gaming fans alike have Lillard’s FNAF character at the top of their minds at the moment, with the movie itself being at the top of the most anticipated video game adaptations to be released this year, due to the massive fanbase that the franchise has built up over the years.
First Look: Matthew Lillard In Blumhouse’s ‘FNAF’
The trailer only reveals a brief few seconds of footage containing Lillard’s William Afton, which has him sitting at a table at what seems to be his family home, unless it is his office where he works his masterplan to steal and kill his victims, all in the illusion that he is just an entertainment enthusiast.
Lillard will also be playing an animatronic in the movie, the evil Springtrap, which is possessed by none other than William Afton himself, however, Springtrap has yet to be officially revealed and was missing from the trailer’s footage.
