One early viewer says that Secret Invasion is different to any other “Marvel series” due to it being “much darker” and may potentially upset fans due to some “character choices” but still leaves you wanting to know “what happens next.”

“#SecretInvasion is immediately different to any other Marvel series. It’s much darker and has you questioning everything you thought you knew. I’m enjoying the story so far but I have a lot of questions about some character choices that I think may make fans unhappy. [1/3]”

Britt (@master_crowley)

“Although it is a lot different, I can’t help but notice that the premise is very similar to ‘THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER.’ I’m very interested in the characters, both old and new, and their motivations. I can’t wait to see what happens next. (2/3)”

Britt (@master_crowley) via Twitter

Erik Davis praises the first two episodes’ “spy thriller vibes” and “Nick Fury dialogue” while giving even higher praise to Olivia Colman being a “breakout scene stealer”.

“Marvel’s #SecretInvasion is all spy thriller vibes w/ moody intrigue, political conspiracies & some great Nick Fury dialogue. BIG things happen right off the bat! A wicked Olivia Colman is the breakout scene stealer early on (love her character) – solid first 2 episodes imo”

Erik Davis (@ErikDavis)

Tessa Smith from Mama’s Geeky makes it clear that viewers won’t have any clue as to where the shapeshifting Skrulls “can be hiding or who they’re masquerading as.”

“Love the fact that we literally have no idea where Skrulls can be hiding or who they’re masquerading as. That’s why I love the comic run. Added cast is phenomenal – Emilia Clarke & Olivia Colman are SLAYING! Episodes are an hour & end with jaw dropping reveals! #SecretInvasion”

Tessa Smith – Mama’s Geeky (@MamasGeeky)

Nick Fury will be seen in a light that hasn’t been “seen before” according to this early watcher who also gives praise to the “great chemistry” between Mendelsohn’s Talos and Jackson’s Fury.

“#SecretInvasion shows us a side of Nick Fury that we haven’t seen before. Solid action scenes, a great set-up for the season within the first episode, and an in-depth look at what the Skrulls can do. Mendelsohn and Jackson have great chemistry that will carry the season.”

manda (@amxndareviews)

Another compares Secret Invasion to Star Wars spinoff series Andor and says that the six episodes move “faster” and include some “massive WTF moments throughout.”

“#SecretInvasion is the real deal. Well directed, shot, choreographed, & written. Sets up the main conflict & villain early on Winter Soldier, Civil War vibes. In terms of quality, feels like Marvel’s Andor. But 6 eps, so it moves faster, & has some massive WTF moments throughout.”

Rayyan (@RayyanTCG)

Secret Invasion is labelled a “real thrill ride” by Rohan Patel with some “MAJOR twists and turns” that will “keep you on the edge of your seat!”

“#SecretInvasion is a real thrill ride, with some MAJOR twists and turns that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat! It’s a tense, old-school, high-stakes, conspiracy spy story, so it’s very much a slow burn with a lot of moving parts, but if you’re into it, it’s pretty awesome”

Rohan Patel (@KingPatel7)

More Secret Invasion Reactions

“The first two eps of #SecretInvasion set the stage for a nerve-inducing and gritty thriller and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This darker side of the MCU is just as enjoyable as the rest, proven by its gripping narrative, as well as some truly bold directions for the show.”

Josh Martin-Jones (@JoshM_Jones)

“After seeing the first two episodes of #SecretInvasion I really like the murky little direction it’s going in. The espionage vibes are top notch (although the meandering plot does get in its own way at times). The standout for me is Olivia Colman’s cheeky scene-stealing spy.”

Eammon Jacobs (@EammonJacobs)

“I’ve seen the first two episodes of #SecretInvasion, and as promised, it’s a sweet conspiracy thriller that quickly proves it’s the spiritual successor to CA: The Winter Solider. The cast is great, and Samuel L. Jackson just shines. This could indeed be Nick Fury’s finest hour.”

Erik Swann (@SwannErik)

“SECRET INVASION first two episodes were an intriguing ingenious political spy thriller. The themes were nuanced & timely. Samuel L. Jackson & Ben Mendelsohn brought their A-game. Complex, smart & thought-provoking. Marvel’s best streaming show since TFATWS #SecretInvasion”

Rama’s Screen (@RamasScreen)

“#SecretInvasion is so far INCREDIBLE. From the cold open to the final shot of the first 2 episodes The stakes are high & are established in a way that made me SCREAM. Count me as a massive fan & dying to see the rest of the season. X-Files Meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers”

Zach Pope (@popetheking)

“#SecretInvasion is definitely Marvel’s most mature title for Disney+ yet. The language and writing knows the audience has grown up and flashes of violence keep it feeling realistic while emphasizing the stakes. The Skrull invasion feels grounded and tense. I’m digging it.”

BD (@BrandonDavisBD)

“#SecretInvasion’s first two episodes are the grounded thriller I was hoping for! Samuel L. Jackson gets to add depth & personality to #NickFury. New cast members (especially Olivia Colman) are great. It has a constant tension and nicely character-driven stakes. I really enjoyed.”

BD (@BrandonDavisBD)

“#SecretInvasion really dives into the espionage of the #MCU. The pacing is methodical and there are a couple shockers. It’ll keep you guessing. Olivia Colman is best part of this show. I’m excited to see where this goes.”

Joseph Deckelmeier (@joedeckelmeier)

“the first two episodes of #SecretInvasion are much darker and violent than i expected — but i’m not complaining! the story drives paranoia levels through the roof, and the suspense leaves you on the edge of your seat. ps: the ensemble cast is phenomenal :)”

alli (@allinicolee5)

“Samuel L. Jackson goes full tilt in the first two episodes of #SecretInvasion but I can’t imagine there will be a better moment all season than when Olivia Colman giddily tortures some dude and scissors off his finger with a mile-wide smile on her face like a raging psychopath.”

Kevin Polowy (@djkevlar)

“The first 2 episodes of #SecretInvasion continue to strengthen the great Nick Fury, and there is no doubt that’ll continue throughout the rest of the season. Definitely darker than previous Marvel shows & leaves you wanting more by the end of each episode. Let’s see where this…”

Genesis O’Neill (@genesisoneill)

“Wooowww I enjoyed the first two episodes of #SecretInvasion . It’s a unique tone for the MCU – mature, gritty, and mysterious it reels you into a story about refugees and a power struggle within the Skrulls. Jackson is phenomenal per usual along with the rest of the cast!”

Leo Rydel (@GeeklyGoods)

“It’s great to see Marvel in this form without having to worry about the Multiverse stuff. Loving how it modern politics and the Skulls’ shape shifting abilities to play up the espionage. Surprised with how much they got away with, and happy that they went all in. #SecretInvasion”

Michael Lee (@IamMichaelJLee)

“#SecretInvasion caught my attention. The first 2 episodes are intriguing, engaging & full of enough twists &surprises to make you realize that everything u think you know about the show has been subterfuge by the studio. Oh & you don’t know a mother fucking thing about Nick Fury.”

Charles Murphy (@_CharlesMurphy)
