Melissa McBride fell victim to a barrage of hate when announcing that she would not be portraying Carol Peletier in the upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff series based on Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon post-finale of the main show.
However, the true fans took to her defence at the time and showed support despite the angry loud noise. Despite this all happening it seems that McBride has officially joined Reedus as they have both recently been spotted filming together.
McBride and Reedus have both been spotted in Paris, France in full The Walking Dead character attire. Reports and speculation say that filming right now is for a second season of the spinoff. This has yet to be confirmed by AMC.

Season 1 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was recently confirmed to be premiering this Fall. So the theory that the current filming is for an unannounced season 2 has some weight to it. Unless this truly is for some last-minute first-season shots.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan who stars as Negan in the franchise’s universe took to Twitter to confirm that McBride’s involvement was planned from “the start”.
See below for what Morgan had to say.
“Well well. We’re sorry Norman… fer talking oodles of sh*t to you when we thought Melissa [McBride] wasn’t doing show!
Golly… this must of been in the works for ages! (Twas from start) (…) It’s great seeing these two together! Can’t wait”

Are Reedus & McBride Filming ‘Daryl Dixon’ Season 2?
As mentioned, the main question is whether or not Reedus and McBride are filming for an announced second season of the spinoff or just adding shots for the first.
One factor that this wouldn’t have been for a second season is that the ongoing WGA writers’ strike may have impacted the production. This was confirmed earlier this year to not be true as AMC series currently in production will apparently not be affected.
Another notable point is now that Melissa McBride has been confirmed to be returning as Carol for the spinoff, she could potentially be popping up during the first season.
Whether or not season 2 is currently being filmed. It’s highly possible that McBride filmed some quick shots for the episodes of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 1.
Fans will just have to wait and see what happens once the series premieres this Fall.
