Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark, Cherry) got to share his thoughts on joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently while promoting his new series Extrapolations in an interview with Screen Rant.
Gandolfini will be starring as an unnamed character in the 2024 MCU series for Disney+ Daredevil: Born Again, which will see the return of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin once again in the MCU.
The main theory that circulates the web on a daily basis is that Gandolfini may be portraying the role of Wilson Fisk’s Son, who was known as Richard Fisk in the comic adaptation.
However, there has been no official announcement from the cast and crew of Daredevil: Born Again, just speculation and theories from the general fandom that this could be the case.
Speculation that Gandolfini will be playing the son of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, recently heightened when Sandrine Holt was announced to be taking on the role of Vanessa Fisk, formerly played by Ayelet Zurer during the Marvel-Netflix days of Daredevil.
Michael Gandolfini Shares His Thoughts
When talking about Extrapolations with Screen Rant, Gandolfini was asked to share his thoughts about joining the MCU, to which Gandolfini responded with:
We just had our first read through. I think they’re great. I think they’re really exciting. Everyone is so kind and talented and I’m just like still pinching myself that I’m there.
Gandolfini went on to confess that he couldn’t reveal much due to the extreme secrecy and spoiler-protective strategies behind Marvel Studios’ productions, telling Screen Rant:
I gotta be careful of Marvel not cutting my head off. So that’s sort of what I can say, but I’m, I’m very excited and I think it’s, it’s gonna make people really happy to return back to this world and Hell’s Kitchen and all that.
Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ during Spring 2024. This is subject to change.
