Dark Castle Entertainment has announced plans for a 13-episode revival series based on their 2001 remake Thirteen Ghosts, with each ghost’s story being explored in each episode – hence their being thirteen.
Cast members of the 2001 remake included names such as the Scream and upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s star Matthew Lillard.
Tony Shalhoub also starred alongside Shawna Loyer, and Shannon Elizabeth, with Embeth Davidtz, among others who brought the remake to life.

Fans of the 2001 remake have long awaited a series-type project that explores the lore of each eerie ghost, with fan demands of such a project being made for over twenty years – twenty-two years as of writing.
Demands that are finally being met by Dark Castle Entertainment, with some help, see below for everything we know about the revival.
Thirteen Ghosts Revival Series Announced
From the sounds of it, the planned revival series will not be another remake of the classic horror but be a prequel/sequel to dive deeper into its ghosts’ pasts.

Dread Central broke Dark Castle’s Thirteen Ghosts series revival plan on August 10, along with unveiling a few decent concept images.
Primordial Pictures’ Patrick Mediate and Fear the Walking Dead SDX Supervisor Aaron McLane are set to work together on the project, along with Fear the Walking Dead co-producer Ashley Robinson also attached.
The only catch at the moment is that the series hasn’t officially been green-lit as of writing, however, their plans are to pitch it to Sony Pictures Television once the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are resolved.
Thankfully, there is a description of what the series would offer die-hard fans of the original 1960 and/or 2001 remake. See below:
“Every culture in the world has its ghost stories, and this re-imagining of Thirteen Ghosts presents an international sampling of these supernatural tales. The ghost stories within each episode will have their own stylistic look and feel that will be explored and influenced by each individual director. This makes our ghost vignettes stand out stylistically as they set the theme for each episode.”
The Thirteen Ghosts Revival Series has yet to be green-lit.
