It’s been a week since Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania released in theaters, and it’s not doing so well at the box office. It grossed $3.78M on its first Thursday at the box office, bringing its domestic total to $135.11M. This is one of Marvel’s worst domestic box office drops, being the second-lowest first Thursday; just behind Thor: The Dark World.
The movie is completely star-studded, featuring the likes of Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Paul Rudd, Kathryn Newton and more. The movie received wide praise from critics and audiences alike for the cast, but received mixed reactions overall. It is possible that the negative reactions were responsible for its underwhelming box office performance.
The movie currently has a critics score of 49%, and an audience score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, with a B grade on CinemaScore.
New ‘Quantumania’ Concept Art
Concept artist Will Htay went on Instagram to share his work, giving us our first look at the concept art behind the entrancing visuals of Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania!

This concept art for Kang the Conqueror seems to be from the scene he approaches the rebellion, with smoke in the background. He is seen showcasing his blue energy-manipulative powers. His suit seems finalised here, with his cape and helmet.

Epic key frame concept by @pietro_nume @framestore I was after an epic shot of Kang descending from his Celestium to lay waste to the Quantum hordes with the aid of his Quantumnauts and his Quantum army – we put Quantum in front of a lot of things to make it sound Quantum.

Another keyframe of Kang the Conqueror going against the rebellion. His “Quantumnauts” can be seen below, but with a more purple design rather than the finalised blue look.

Here’s one of my early sketches for Chronopolis in #antmanandthewaspquantumania I was playing with the concept that Kang had built over the city with failed experiments to get out of the Quantum Realm – patterns from particle explosions and failed particle accelerator structures have become habitats and become part of a design language that is synonymous with Kang the Conqueror
This early sketch of the entirety of Chronopolis features a vast cosmopolitan futuristic city, with circular architecture all the way. Below it, is a drawing comparing Giant-Man’s size and Kang’s citadel, adding scale to the drawing. Text on the sketches also reveal that it originally featured “tunnels to other Quantum worlds”. The art also features the energy shields from the movie.

And finally, this frame from the beginning of the third act. Scott enlarges to Giant-Man form, and approaches Chronopolis. The Quantum-people’s militia can be seen right alongside him. What changed between this and the final frame is that Scott is much closer to the city, and we can’t see the rebels in the final frame. You can view the final still below:
