Daredevil: Born Again begins filming this month, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. The series is set to begin filming on February 27, which will last till December of this year. This marks it as one of the longest filming schedules for a series in the history of Marvel Studios, well justified. The series will consist of a total of 18 episodes, full of lawyer and vigilante action.
The series recently added new writers to its team of scribes, David Feige, Thomas Wong, and Zachary Reiter, who are all real, experienced attorneys. From homicide investigations to public defence, the team surely has a lot of knowledge regarding trials. Charlie Cox himself said that the series will have a heavy influence of courtroom stuff,” giving the show tons of room to fit lengthy trial scenes in.
A new casting grid for Daredevil: Born Again has been shared by insider Daniel Richtman, listing 5 different characters.

A New Casting Grid
The first character is named ‘Derek’, who is an Asian-American male in his late 20s to early 30s. He works at a professional office and assists where needed. He will be a co-star in the first two episodes, with the potential to recur.
Secondly, we have ‘Barry’, a male in his 40s to early 60s. The character does not have a specified ethnicity. He is described as a slight, bookworm-ish bureaucrat who meets with a colleague. The actor portraying the character will have 9 lines in the first two episodes and will be a recurring co-star.
Next up is ‘Angelo’, an Italian-American male in his 50s to early 60s. The character is an old-school mobster type, dressed to perfection. He will be a recurring guest performer.
‘Alexei’ (not Shostakov) is a white male in his 40s with a Russian or Eastern European background. He will don a sweatsuit for a business meeting (daring enough). The actor will also be a recurring guest performer.
Lastly, we have ‘Lorenzo’, an Italian-American male in his 30s. He is a hot-headed mafia member in a more casual dress. He is also a recurring guest performer.
It is important to keep in mind that all these character names might just be placeholders for the real names, but all we can do is wait and watch.

New Co-workers?
‘Derek’ (if that’s what his name is) seems to be a co-worker to Charlie Cox‘s Matt Murdock. Given that he is a co-star in Episodes 1 and 2, it just might be possible that he will take the place of Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page. A recent report from Daniel Richtman stated that Deborah Ann Woll has signed on to star in the Twin Flames podcast series, which could apparently prevent her from having the time to film for Marvel Studios at the same time. However, take this with a grain of salt since we have no further proof about Ann Woll’s scheduling conflicts, or ‘Derek’s screen time.
A New Client?
As of now, we’ve only seen The Man Without Fear deal with two clients, the masked vigilante Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home and superhero outfit designer Luke Jacobson in the 2022 series She-Hulk. However, the next client coming to his firm might be very soon. ‘Barry’, who only has 9 lines in Episodes 1 and 2, might be building up for a bigger role in the series, potentially being in Matt Murdock’s refuge. The fact that the actor will be a member of the recurring cast solidifies this theory.
Given that ‘Barry’ is a bureaucrat, it is possible that he might have information regarding Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin, although that is pure speculation on our part.
Where Is ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Headed With The Mafia?
‘Angelo’, ‘Alexei’, and ‘Lorenzo’ are members of the Mafia, which gives Daredevil: Born Again a new direction to move from the Netflix show. While further details are yet to come out, this would introduce a new power struggle in Hell’s Kitchen, giving the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen one more opponent to face in the series.
