Disney has officially released a new synopsis for Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, directed by James Gunn, including stars such as Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana.
This is officially the fourth installment in the franchise if you include Disney Plus’ The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special that came out in 2022. However, this is technically the third installment in the franchise’s movie series, making it “Vol. 3” which will further follow the events of Avengers: Endgame plus explore the origin of certain characters.

New Synopsis For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
In Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
One Last Ride
The earlier description for this movie was pretty similar, just with the omission of Rocket’s dire state in the movie.
In Marvel Studios “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
The synopsis says that Star-Lord will be reeling from the loss of Gamora – even though we see her return in the trailer for this movie. The D23 Expo version of the trailer revealed that Gamora would lead the Ravagers of this movie, and her relationship with Quill would be a fresh start.
So we might not receive the wholesome tale of them getting back together as some might expect.
This new synopsis seems to suggest that something during the events of the movie might end up leaving Rocket in a critical state, due to which Peter Quill and the rest of the Guardians scramble to cure him. It is unknown if the incident involving Rocket happens during the movie, or if it’s just normal raccoon aging; hopefully not the latter.
It also mentions that the ragtag group’s base of operations will be Knowhere – something that was previously confirmed in The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special.
