Marvel Studios have a whopping list of projects coming out in 2023, which comes as no surprise when comparing next year to the number of releases pushed out in the years prior. Although it is safe to say that there are a dozen projects to be excited about, currently, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is the one to be focused on.
As a part of their 2023 summer preview, Entertainment Weekly released a new still from Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, the still doesn’t show much, from what we can depict, it seems to show Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang (aka Ant-Man) inside the Quantum Realm with his Daughter Cassie Lang; who will also be suiting up this time round.
It also appears, in the newly released still, that Ant-Man and his daughter Cassie are both hiding and looking off into something in the distance. The setting of this scene seems familiar to the moment in the trailer where Ant-Man and Cassie are confronted by curious-looking characters from within the Quantum Realm.
However, those characters have been heavily reported to be a part of a rebel gang who are fighting against whatever Kang is getting up to down there. So this scene could also be Ant-Man and Cassie being shown something by these people, possibly Kang’s impressive headquarters that are briefly shown during the official trailer.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania New Look
The film is set to debut in theatres on the 17th of February, 2023, and will mark the beginning of Marvel Studios’ fifth phase, but although it kicks off a whole phase; the plan is to reinvent the tone of the Ant-Man franchise.
Director Peyton Reed told EW “I don’t want to be the palate cleanser anymore. I want to be the big Avengers movie.'”, nodding to the fact that fans think of Ant-Man as a non-pivotal character in the MCU. Reed plans on changing the opinion of many with this third instalment, which is clear judging by the footage we have seen so far.
Jonathan Majors’ ‘Kang’ has been heavily shown as a heavy antagonist in the movie, which will give fans a good impression of what he is getting up to inside the Quantum Realm, plus what he may have planned for the multiverse. If you watched the Loki series on Disney Plus, you will know that this is not a Kang that we have met before in the MCU, as Johnathan Majors was a variant of ‘Kang’ known as ‘He Who Remains’ in season one of the show.
M.O.D.O.K has also been confirmed for the third Ant-Man film, plus appearances from actors such as Bill Murray in the mix, so it’s safe to say that the anticipation is high in the Marvel community.
