The first deleted scene from the Marvel Studios Phase 4 movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has officially been released ahead of the Disney Plus and digital release. The second installment of the Black Panther series will officially be available to watch digitally on the 1st of February, with the Blu-ray version coming on February 7th. The new scene features Danai Gurira’s MCU character Okoye, who has so far appeared in Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, What If…?, and most recently Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
In the deleted scene, which is titled “Daughter of the Border”, Gurira’s Okoye can be seen riding a horse through the plains of Wakanda cutting to a scene where she is talking to a Border Tribe member. It was revealed in Black Panther that Okoye’s husband was W’Kabi, played by Daniel Kaluuya, who was at the time the head of security of the Border Tribe. However, due to W’Kabi’s actions in the first installment, he was removed from his position and imprisoned to look after the rhinos as revealed in recent concept art online.

Daughter of the Border Deleted Scene Breakdown
The scene starts with the Border Tribe member telling Okoye “and as the daughter of the border, we must speak about the future of Wakanda”, in light of the loss of T’Challa and their protector Black Panther. He continues to tell Okoye that “the other elders fight for the right to the throne, drawing straws to decide on who will get the honor of being assassinated by Namor next”. Okoye then responds with “then what is it that you believe should be done?” which triggers the response from the Border Tribe member “we must perform the ritual at warrior falls as tradition dictates”. Warrior Falls is the cliffside location where T’Challa had to fight to earn his right as Black Panther, most known for the scene where he fought Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger in Black Panther.
It is then said to Okoye that the Border Tribe wants her to “step forward on behalf of the Border Tribe” which would then in fact make Okoye the Queen of Wakanda, which Okoye laughingly shrugs off at first. However, she is told in the deleted scene that “no one has more support among the people than you [OKOYE]” and that “Wakanda would be proud” to stand behind Okoye. However, Okoye asks the tribe member “and what of Shuri?” which is responded with “we can not allow the whims of a grieving woman to sway the fate of our great nation [WAKANDA]” by the Border Tribe member in the deleted scene. He continues to say “my advice would be to lay low the drumbeat of war builds, then when the dust settles, you will become the leader that this country truly deserves”. This is the full conversation from the “Daughter of the Tribe” deleted scene from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with Okoye’s reaction being unsure of what she has just been told.
