A new promotional video for Insomniac’s next Spider-Man game installment Spider-Man 2 has swung its way online via a spot on ESPN, featuring both Spider-Man and Miles Morales with some live-action footage. The first Insomniac Spider-Man video game for PlayStation was originally announced at the 2016 E3 convention, with the game being released two years later in 2018. Players of the first game gave huge praise to the studio for the captivating storytelling and character development, despite seeing many adaptations of the character in the past, which solidified its status as the most loved Spider-Man game as of today.
The official second installment of the series has followed a similar pattern of release, if you take the pandemic limitations out of the picture, with the original announcement being in late 2019. Spider-Man 2 is now slated for a 2023 release which is four years after the announcement trailer that featured the return of Miles Morales and the exciting reveal that Venom will be a part of the sequel. Although there haven’t been too many updates since the original announcement on what to expect, the new promotional teaser does confirm the 2023 release is going forward.

Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 New Promo Details
The new live-action promotional teaser video comes in the form of a “LIVE FROM PS5™” news announcement, set in the universe of the Spider-Man video game from Insomniac. The news video shows “live” footage of a news journalist reporting from a supposable crime scene, with shots of several NYPD officers looking up a gang of criminals being caught in a web halfway up a building. The journalist reports that “the good people of Manhattan” have been saved again by “their favorite hero”, the hero, of course, being Spider-Man. There is even “eye witness footage” of Spidey shot from the phone of a civilian through the window of a New York apartment, however, despite the journalist only crediting one hero, it later shows a quick shot of Miles Morales swinging alongside Spider-Man. You can watch the clip below via our official MCU updates page on Twitter.

On the news banner graphic during the clip, the footer note can be seen to say “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Coming Spring 2023. Check the Classification. © 2023 MARVEL.”. This seems to confirm that Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 video game will be swinging its way to PS5 in the spring of 2023, which will be sometime between the middle of March to the middle of June. Hopefully, an official release date announcement will be coming from the game studio sometime in the upcoming weeks, with this new promo increasing the probability of such an announcement.
UPDATE: The promo is Australian, and their Spring months are September, October, and November. This makes sense as the game is expected to drop in September 2023. The new US version of the promo below confirms the Fall release is still set for Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2.
