Disney Plus recently shared a clip featuring new footage from Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, which will see the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury take on an army of Skrull invaders. In the new footage, which is only a short few seconds of Nick Fury speaking, the line of dialogue spoken is “Cavalry’s on its way”.
Once this footage was shared online, fans of the popular Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were quick to point out the possible connection to Melinda May, who was played by Ming-Na Wen. The connection between the four worded line of dialogue and Melinda May is that May’s nickname in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is literally the Calvary.
It’s possible that Disney and Marvel Studios will be debuting some commonly known S.H.I.E.L.D. characters from previous Marvel adaptations, but they could also just be messing with the fans. Chloe Bennet has also been highly speculated by the fanbase to have some sort of role in the future of the MCU, as she posted a social post in 2022 with some daisy flowers, Daisy being her character’s first name in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – very peculiar!

Is Agent Coulson Finally Coming Back To The MCU?
If Ming-Na Wen and/ or Chloe Bennet do indeed return to reprise their Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that would only lead to assume that Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson will be the next to follow.
Gregg’s Coulson character had a large role in the first phase of the MCU, being killed off by Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in the first Avengers movie. However, he was revealed in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to still be alive due to Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and his team resurrecting him through the use of deceased Kree blood.
Agent Coulson then went on to be one of the main faces of the seven-season series, with fans still to this day hoping to see all their favorite AOS characters return to the spotlight. Now that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, has jumped from the Marvel-Netflix side to the official Marvel Cinematic Universe, anything is truly possible for the future of the franchise.
Fan Reactions To The Possible Teaser
Pablo Ross on Twitter proposes that the fans should “riot” if Melinda May doesn’t end up being in Secret Invasion.
Another user on Twitter called Sarah (Taylor’s Version) points out that Nick Fury refers to Daisy from S.H.I.E.L.D. in Marvel Comics, possibly hinting at an appearance of either of the two characters.
Joel on Twitter reminding people that this could very well be Nick Fury just simply saying the word cavalry, not referencing Melinda May from S.H.I.E.L.D.
