Samuel L. Jackson was spotted filming for a secret project this week in the home country of CoveredGeekly, Scotland, in the West Lothian town known as Bathgate, only about a 30-minute drive from the heart of Edinburgh.
This news comes after the recent reported sightings of Jackson filming in Livingston, Scotland, which is a fair hour or so walking distance from the new location of Bathgate, but only about a 10 or 20-minute drive depending on traffic.
CoveredGeekly was told by a local resident of Bathgate that dozens of locals gathered in the area, late at night, with some waiting for hours just to get a glimpse of Samuel L. Jackson filming scenes for the secret project.
Various locals stated that Jackson was filming scenes for The Marvels, the MCU film set to release later this year, with other residents of the area stating that the scenes being filmed were for a secret movie project, which could also imply that Jackson is acting as Nick Fury, his character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Sadly, confirmation as to which exact project Jackson was filming for has not been shared by the cast and crew of the film location, however, Jackson was seen filming scenes in a somewhat similar to Nick Fury style as he donned a long coat and dark beanie, which is what Jackson can be seen wearing in footage from Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion.
Nevertheless, locals of the area who watched Jackson work his magic for the camera were all fairly confident that the scenes being filmed were for a Marvel Studios project, check out some images and videos below from the Bathgate, Scotland film set.
Samuel L. Jackson – Bathgate Film Set
All of the following images and videos found in this article were taken on March 23, 2023, in the Scottish West Lothian town known as Bathgate.
In the images above, Jackson is seen rehearsing a scene involving a car pulling over onto the side of the road.
In this video (above), Jackson seems to be rehearsing for a scene as he goes back and fourth with the crew of the project to a car that is involved with the film production.
The cast and crew of this secret filming project, starring Samuel L. Jackson, involved various shots of driving cars being filmed, one with Jackson seemingly checking on a driver after a car suddenly pulls over onto the side of the road, and another shot involving a car shows somebody quickly pulling into a driveway.
Jackson makes a fan’s day in the video above as a passenger inside a car driving past the Bathgate film set shouts “Nick Fury!” to Jackson through an open window, to which Jackson responds with “that is the third time you’ve been by here”, which he says while grinning immensely after being called Nick Fury by one of his Scottish fans.
Bathgate locals will be getting a bit used to large Hollywood projects being filmed in their home town as Trainspotting 2 and Outlander also used Bathgate, Scotland, for some scenes during their productions.
Just last year, Bathgate opened up a £25 million production studio that has been used for projects such as Trainspotting 2, Netflix’s Outlaw King, The Batman, and even for some scenes of The Good Omens Season 2, with the studio potentially being used for whichever project Jackson if filming for in the Scottish town.
Filming is set to continue in the location seen used in the images and videos within this article sometime this week, as the Bathgate council shared that the street will be closed off for filming next week, expect more news to follow.
It may be that Jackson was just scouting the area along with the crew of the production, nevertheless, the area will indeed be used for filming starting next week, most likely on Monday (March 27, 2023).
UPDATE: March 27, 2023
The project which Jackson will be filming in Scotland this week has been revealed to be a non-MCU related project entitled Damaged, full details on this can be found here.
