New promotional art for Marvel Studios’ 2023 movie The Marvels has been revealed online, offering brand-new looks at Zawe Ashton’s Dar-Benn, “Flerkittens”, Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms Marvel, with some animated stylings of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. The Marvels was originally set for a 2023 summer release, however, the title was recently delayed to November, meaning fans will have to wait a good portion of the year before watching the anticipated MCU title. This new instalment will effectively be a sequel to WandaVision, Captain Marvel, and Ms. Marvel, with all three of the titular characters now forming into a team known as The Marvels.
You can see the new promotional art images for The Marvels below, plus breakdowns of the images, with nine images in total being released, it’s safe to say that Marvel Studios will be bringing out a large amount of merch for their upcoming 2023 title, featuring all the main characters, plus Flerken.
New ‘The Marvels’ Promo Art
The first set of images (above) features the three main protagonists of the movie, consisting of Brie Larson‘s Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris‘ Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani‘s Ms. Marvel, aka Kamala Khan, with a symbol on both images representing all of their logos combined. Parris’ Monica Rambeau will most likely be going by the name Photon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something that has been speculated to be set in stone during the events of The Marvels, also the name Rambeau uses in some of the Marvel Comics storyline adaptations.
Rambeau has also been known to go by the name Spectrum during an adaptation in the comics adaptation of the character, however, easter eggs and references of Photon being the chosen name have been planted across the MCU in projects such as Captain Marvel and WandaVision, both starring the character Monica Rambeau. One scene from Captain Marvel, in particular, shows Lashana Lynch’s Maria Rambeau, mother to Monica, with the nickname “Photon” plastered on the side of her jet, another huge indicator that this will be the official MCU name, for now, superhero Monica Rambeau.
Additional images (above) of Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel were also revealed in this latest batch of new promotional art for The Marvels, with these and the previous two images all sharing the same assets of the characters, just with a variation of graphic designs, however, the image on the right features the movie’s actual title as opposed to a mash-up of the three logos.
Flerkittens! These two images (above) show off the upcoming batch of new Flerken, a group of animals who were teased during the official trailer, already gaining a mass amount of excitement from portions of the MCU fanbase worldwide, with Captain Marvel’s Goose still kicking around.
Flerken appear as innocent cats, however, they are in fact alien to our planet and can unleash multiple tentacles from their mouth, with the ability to use said tentacles to swallow their enemies, turning them into quick tasty snacks.
The next two images (above) give off a brand-new look for the three characters, with an almost 90s cartoon style, with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury giving off a hard stare in purely animated form, along with some Flerken kittens, plus the three main protagonists.
Lastly, a brand-new look at Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn has been revealed, with the image of Ashton being a live-action image, providing an extremely detailed look at her full costume and weapon, a weapon similar to Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser, who appeared in Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, due to the fact that Ashton’s Dar-Benn is also an Accuser for the Kree Empire.
Marvel Studios’ The Marvels comes to theatres on November 10, 2023.
