South Park creator Trey Parker is reportedly stepping away from the animated show for a while to direct a brand new movie for Paramount alongside South Park producer Vernon Chatman as a writer.
Trey Parker entered the pop culture scene back in the late 90s along with Matt Stone who both helped each other create the massively successful animated series South Park which has now moved from Comedy Central to Paramount Plus.
Paramount saw great potential in the long-lasting series, securing a deal for around 900 million US dollars two years ago now in 2021.
Although Comedy Central is owned by Paramount’s parent company, the episodes of the show aren’t actually available to stream on Paramount Plus, but the deal secured all future South Park rights to remain with Paramount exclusively.
Since the official move to Paramount, the team behind South Park has been working hard on their new South Park specials which are considerably longer than the traditional episode runtime.
However, it seems that the co-creator of the franchise may be stepping away or at least stepping to the side to help Paramount direct a movie that has nothing to do with South Park.
This new report comes from the well-trusted industry scooper Daniel Richtman, however, no official confirmation or comment on the report has been made as of yet.

Trey Parker’s New Reported Movie Details

In this new report, the details state that Trey Parker is reportedly directing an untitled movie for Paramount, untitled for now it says, with South Park producer Vernon Chatman set to be the writer of the project.
Similar to Trey Parker, Vernon Chatman has also worked with the South Park team on an impressive number of episodes and the two have proven to be a great team so far.
Details of the movie’s premise are also attached to this new report, stating that the plot of the storyline will focus on “a young black man interning at a living history museum about slavery discovers that his girlfriends family used to own his family.”.
Sadly, this report comes with no details on any casting or information on who else may be attached to the project, just the details that can be seen above.
It is notable to mention for a second time in this article that this new report has had no official confirmation or comment as of yet, but we will hopefully hear something soon.
