It’s time! Apple TV+’s New York Comic Con 2023 panel for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is here and CoveredGeekly will be in attendance to bring you all of the LIVE updates from inside the panel – see below.
The series is set inside the same universe as Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island and stars Kurt and son Wyatt Russell, Christopher Heyerdahl, Mari Yamamoto, Qyoko Kudo, Shota Tsuji, Josh Collins, Charlie Hewson, Junichi Tajiri, David Santana, Charlie Karumi, Kiersey Clemons, among others.
This series isn’t the only project in the franchise’s pipeline as the sequel movie Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was also teased to be coming out in 2024. Perhaps some news will be dropping about the movie’s release window during the panel, we’ll just have to wait and see!

Update 12:23 ET – All of the Godzilla signage is creating a more realistic world within the MonsterVerse.
Update 12:17 ET – Creature design was one of the harder issues with over 1000 people and 50/0 vendors working on the VFX for the kaiju.
Update 12:15 ET – Now talking about Ren and Anna about casting and how the process was on Zoom with all their different circumstances.
Update 12:13 ET – Matt Shakman couldn’t be here cause he’s working on another big project.
Update 12:13 ET – It was important to bring Godzilla back to his roots in Tokyo and Japan as a whole.
Update 12:12 ET – Production was shooting for 6-7 months in so many different parts of the world, that they needed so many directors for different parts of production.
Update 12:10 ET – Kurt and Wyatt had fun trying to recite their different lines as the same characters.
Update 12:09 ET – New footage: Lee is trying to save Cate and Kentaro from a winter Kaiju in the mountains while a helicopter comes around.
Update 12:08 ET – New look at Kurt Russell as Lee Shaw was just shown.
Update 12:06 ET – The casting of Kurt and Wyatt Russell came when they wanted to work together and it was pitched to become a great idea – It all happened at a family birthday party.
Update 12:04 ET – The creatures with the VFX were hard to master with the consequences they have on the main characters.
