Marvel Studios has been rethinking its release schedule for the Disney+ content recently, with president Kevin Feige’s comments on Quality vs. Quantity, and the company slowing down the pace of Disney+ content.
Initially announced at SDCC 2022, Marvel’s Disney+ slate for 2023 included What If…? Season 2, Secret Invasion, Echo, Loki Season 2, X-Men ’97, Ironheart, and Agatha: Coven Of Chaos. Fast-forward to present day, and only 2 of the 7 listed shows are sure bets to release this year.
Secret Invasion received a trailer during D23 Expo, and several snippets of Loki Season 2 were featured in Disney+ spots, but we have had no release update since.
‘Loki’ Season 2 Receives Positive Release Update
In a recent interview with ET, Owen Wilson discussed the post-credits scene in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, and the upcoming second season of Loki, which is slated to release later this year.
The actor said that he thought Loki Season 2 was coming out towards the end of “summer or September”.
“I guess they have kind of a little shot of Tom Hiddleston and I and Jonathan Majors from Loki season two, and I think that’s coming out end of the summer or September.”
Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion was earlier listed to release before this series, but earlier this month, Disney+ updated the release listings for both the series from Spring and Summer 2023 respectively, to “coming soon”. This gave rise to speculation that the series had been delayed indefinitely, possibly further into 2024.
If Secret Invasion does premiere in June (which is very likely), this would leave ample time for Loki Season 2 to release to release during Fall 2023.
Wilson went on to say that the audience “will be excited” and will “love his character in this.”
“I know. It’s so exciting. That was incredible, every time I saw him winning something, it was another speech that just kind of was a tearjerker that was so moving. And even when we were working on this last summer — I think his character that he plays in Loki season two — I think people will be excited, even though that was so great, obviously, the character that he won an Oscar, for I think people are going to love his character in this.”
