Paul Rudd has addressed a commonly known editing error from Avengers: Endgame where you can see Rudd’s Ant-Man in two places at once during the same scene. In the scene, Ant-Man can be seen trying to fix a van during the final battle of the movie, alongside Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp. However, during the same scene, Ant-Man can also be seen fighting alongside the Avengers as Giant-Man, the version of Ant-Man that turns into a giant as opposed to an ant-sized superhero. The editing error may could have been due to parts of the movie being cut out, making the cuts jump from Ant-Man in a van to Ant-Man on the battlefield too quickly, or possibly the error was just an honest mistake.
In a recent interview with Ali Plumb for BBC Radio 1, Rudd was asked about the not-always-so-noticeable editing mistake, to which Rudd jokingly responded with “maybe there’s a bit of a glitch in the system”. Plumb also attempted to explain the error by stating that it is simply just due to some new Pym Particle features that fans aren’t aware of, to which Rudd added “well you know when you see this new Ant-Man movie, you’ll see there is like, a moment where there is more than one Ant-Man, and maybe it’s similar”. Kevin Feige gets a notable mention during the interview, with Rudd and Plumb suggesting that maybe this was all just part of Feige’s plan to tease the future of the MCU.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now the third official instalment in the Ant-Man franchise for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, Paul Rudd has appeared as the character across various MCU projects so far. It has also been confirmed that Marvel Studios are already talking about a possible Ant-Man 4, however, no official announcement has been made as of yet on whether another sequel will be developed. Nevertheless, it should be safe to assume that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania won’t be the last appearance of Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man in the MCU, especially considering the fact that there are currently two Avengers sequels in the works.
