Paul Rudd has revealed that he has never gone into the cinema to watch an Ant-Man movie or MCU movie to see how the general audience reacts, not even once. In a recent interview with Ali Plumb for BBC Radio 1, Rudd was asked if he was aware of how fans reacted to some of his certain MCU scenes as Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man. One question being asked to Rudd on if he knew how positive the reaction was to a scene in Avengers: Endgame where Rudd’s character uses a set of van keys, during battle, to set off a perfectly timed and comedic horn melody.
However, despite the fact that audiences around the world were crying with laughter during this moment in the fourth Avengers instalment, Rudd apparently had no idea even to this day. When Rudd is asked by Plumb “Tell me you did this, did you go into cinemas and watch that movie [AVENGERS: ENDGAME] incognito, just for the moment where Scott Lang presses the car key button?”, Plumb continues to tell Rudd how much fans loved that moment, to which Rudd responds with “really?!”. Rudd expresses his genuine cluelessness about the fact by telling Plumb “This is the truth, I never, ever went to a theatre to see Endgame and see what the reaction is, I’ve never done that – I’ve actually never done that with any of the Ant-Man movies or any of the Marvel stuff [MCU]”.
Confirming that Rudd has never seen one Marvel Cinematic Universe project in a theatre with a public audience, and also that Rudd had almost no idea as to how fans reacted to some of his most beloved moments in the franchise. Rudd has, of course, seen his MCU movies in a theatre as he is known for attending the premieres, telling Plumb “I went to the premiere because they had them and those were the time[s] I saw it in the theatre”. Rudd also adds that he doesn’t know why he hasn’t gone to a public showing for an Ant-Man movie or general MCU movie, also adding more response to Plumb’s previous question about the car “wow, people really, they liked that?”.
