We have less than 50 days to go until Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 releases in theaters, and Marvel Studios has ramped up the marketing for this threequel. March 22 marked the start for cast-content for the movie, with Karen Gillan sharing the information on Instagram. Not long after that, all socials for the studio changed their banner to the landscape poster for the movie, signalling the arrival more content.
A new listing on Fandango has revealed that an IMAX Guardians Of The Galaxy movie marathon will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd. The description of the event reads as follows:
On Wednesday, May 3rd, fans can be among the first to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by attending the “The IMAX Guardians of the Galaxy Marathon”. Come experience all 3 films back on the big screen in IMAX and receive an exclusive, commemorative poster & lanyard.
The total runtime of the marathon is listed as 6 hours and 48 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy clocked in at 2 hours and 2 minutes while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had a runtime of 2 hours and 17 minutes. By subtracting the runtime of the first two movies from the marathon’s duration, we arrive at a solid 2 hours and 29 minutes.
We can presume that this marathon doesn’t include The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special because this is an IMAX marathon, a format which the holiday special wasn’t filmed in.
This goes in line with James Gunn’s statement earlier this month. Replying to a fan inquiring about the movie’s runtime, Gunn confirmed that the movie would be “longer than 1 & 2“.
The film has been rated PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence and action, strong language, suggestive/drug references, and thematic elements.”
Marvel Studios’ Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to release exclusively in theaters on May 5, 2023.
