John Cena’s Peacemaker character from the live-action DC Universe is reportedly being considered to be a playable character in NetherRealm Studios’ next Mortal Kombat game, currently known as Mortal Kombat 12, with recent reports suggesting that it may be titled Mortal Kombat 1, with a full franchise reboot being reported to be the next shift for the series.
Recent reports also suggest that the next chapter in the series will only be available to play on next-generation consoles, which seems to be the current movement for a lot of game studios, simply due to the technology limits between the two generations of console hardware.
Is Peacemaker Joining Mortal Kombat 12?
According to WindowCentral.com, NetherRealm Studios are considering various Warner Bros. properties in regard to non-Mortal Kombat canon characters to add for players to fight against other characters with, with details that both Peacemaker and Homelander from The Boys, among others, are in the running top spots.
NetherRealm Studios are known for adding at least one DC character in their new Mortal Kombat games, with their side-game Injustice being purely about the DC universe, and with Warner Bros. owning the rights to everything, it’s safe to assume that Peacemaker is a safe bet for who to see in the next instalment.
However, this information has yet to be confirmed or debunked by the team behind the game, with new announcements recently teased by NetherRealm to be coming soon as of writing this news article, with speculation the next major announcement will be both the official title reveal alongside the release date.
NetherRealm Studios’ 2023 Mortal Kombat game is set for a late 2023 release.
