Update: This article was updated on May 29 at 21:48 BST as Beau DeMayo provided an update on Twitter that the information listed on the U.S. Copyright Office was not in fact a synopsis for the Marvel animated X-Men ’97 series – this article has been updated to reflect that.
“It’s frustrating the lengths some go to get information on the show. But, for grammar’s sake, let me clarify that this run-on sentence is not an official synopsis for the show.” – DeMayo
A new release window for the upcoming animated series X-Men ’97 has reportedly been revealed online following the announcement that Loki Season 2 and Echo will be released later this year.
The new information comes in the form of preregistration for the first episode of X-Men ’97 listed on the official U.S. Copyright Office website. The news was first reported by a Twitter user known as @ScarletWitchUpd. Inside the new listing included details such as the approximate projected date of publication alongside a “Description of Work” that seems close to a synopsis for “EPISODE 101”.
Preregistration is a procedure established by the copyright office for specific types of works that have a track record of being infringed upon before their official release. It functions as a temporary measure, usually used when a copyright holder intends to take legal action against infringement while the work is still in the process of being prepared for commercial distribution.
