Owen Wilson is reportedly set to star in the Venom sequel Venom 3, with speculation that Wilson could be appearing as his MCU character Mobius, last seen in the post-credit scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and later to be seen in Loki Season 2.
This news comes shortly after the reveal that Juno Temple (Ted Lasso, Horns) will also be starring in Venom 3 in a lead role, however, casting details as to who she will be playing have not yet been revealed by the cast and crew of the Venom sequel.
This new information comes from the popular and well-known industry scooper Daniel Richtman, aka Daniel RPK, as was posted directly to Patreon just today.
Will Owen Wilson Be Playing Mobius In ‘Venom 3’?
Wilson first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mobius in the first season of Disney Plus’ Loki series, and despite Venom not being set directly inside the main MCU universe, Hardy’s Eddie Brock did leave his mark during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, also leaving a piece of the Venom symbiote in another universe, the MCU to be exact.
Seeing that Hardy’s Venom is now split between two universes, it could be safe to assume that this may tick off the Time Variance Authority (TVA), which would lead to Wilson’s Mobius, who works for the TVA, to step in and fix the multiversal situation similar to the events of Loki Season 1.
This news has yet to be officially announced or confirmed by the cast and crew of Venom 3.
Update
More details to this report via the same source have been shared online stating that Wilson was not joining on to play his MCU character Mobius plus that he has decided to pass up the opportunity and will reportedly not be joining the cast for the next Venom instalment, with the new post stating “DanielRPK: The role Owen Wilson was offered in Venom 3 was not for Mobius and it seems that he unfortunately decided to pass. Offer went to a different actor.”
Venom 3 currently has no release date set as of writing this article, the movie is expected to be released sometime in 2024.
