This news article may contain spoilers for Sony’s Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse movie, however, all information within this report should be considered a rumour unless confirmed by the cast and crew of the movie.
Peggy Lu who is known for playing the store clerk known as Mrs. Chen in both Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage will reportedly have a cameo in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, a live-action cameo, not an animated one. Lu debuted as Mrs. Chen back in 2018 during the release of the first Venom instalment and instantly became a fan favourite due to her on-screen chemistry with Tom Hardy who plays the titular character of Eddie Brock, and the voice of Venom. Mrs. Chen hit it so well with the fans that Lu was asked to return for the sequel which was released only a couple of years ago back in 2021, however, Chen hasn’t been seen since and most would have expected to see her next in Venom 3.
Well, according to a new report from the well-known industry scooper Daniel Richtman (aka DanielRPK), Lu’s Mrs. Chen may be making an appearance in Sony’s Spider-Man universe before Tom Hardy returns to the screen as Eddie Brock. It should be noted that this information comes with no confirmation from Marvel Studios or the cast and crew of the third Venom movie, however, if the report contains any ounce of truth, this could mean that Sony will be setting up for their Into The Spider-Verse and Venom franchises to merge, similar to how they did so with Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Mrs. Chen Across The Spider-Verse Cameo Details
The latest report from the insider on Across The Spider-Verse doesn’t come with an extensive amount of information, it does, however, state that “Mrs. Chen (Peggy Lu) from the Venom movies has a live action cameo in the movie”, the “movie” also being credited to be Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse on the Patreon post’s title. Sadly, no other details about the rumour were added, other than the cameo report which would confirm the connection between Hardy’s Venom universe to the animated Morales universe, plus the various alternative animated universes that have already been established.
This new information comes not long after the recent report from the same insider that states Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire will not be starring in Across The Spider-Verse, with the same report detailing that Holland’s Spider-Man will, however, be getting a brief mention during the Into The Spider-Verse sequel, along with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange also getting a mention at some point during the movie. However, this report should also be considered as a rumour as no official announcement has been made as of writing this article, so take all this information with a pinch of salt.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is set to release in theatres on the 2nd of June, 2023.
