Spider-Man 3 and No Way Home star Thomas Haden Church has revealed rumours that Sam Raimi is considering doing Spider-Man 4 with Spidey Hall of Famer Tobey Maguire.
Raimi and Maguire, as many Marvel fans know, are both famously known for working together on their Spider-Man trilogy that helped pave the future of comic book movies.
Despite the popularity and success at the time that the original three movies at Sony garnered, the originally planned Spider-Man 4 was axed while in early development.

This was mostly due to the poor reception of Spider-Man 3 which featured Church as Marvel’s Flint Marko aka Sandman who returned for Tom Holland’s No Way Home.
No Way Home’s success with both fans and box office numbers alike has been long speculated to have kickstarted the Spider-Man sandbox over at Sony Pictures.
Thomas Haden Church’s Spider-Man 4 Scoop
While talking to ComicBook about Twisted Metal, Church shared rumours about Raimi having considerations to jump back into the Spider-Verse alongside Maguire.
When asked about which Spider-Man actor he would like to see his Sandman go toe to toe with in a potential future project, Church said that he would indeed like to share the screen with Maguire once again – Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland being the other two actors in question.

“Well back with Tobey [Maguire], well with Tobey, because that’s who I started out with and then you know in No Way Home, I had the stuff that I had, really, with the other different guys [Garfield & Holland], more with Tom Holland than with the other guys.
There’s always been something that’s been kind of, you know I’ve heard rumours that Sam Raimi was going to do another one with Tobey Maguire. If that happened then I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo.”

Now, although Church is indeed a fellow actor in the industry and has even starred in past Spider-Man titles, he himself states that these are “rumours”.
However, he doesn’t clarify whether these rumours have come from within his industry or are just simply rumours he has seen while browsing the web.

If the former is true, it could very well be possible that Church has just spoiled the news that Raimi and Maguire were indeed working on a potential Spider-Man 4 movie before the ongoing strikes began.
Something that most likely won’t be talked about anytime soon, at least until the current WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes find a reasonable resolution.
Spider-Man 4 has not yet been officially announced by Sony.
