Warner Bros. Pictures‘ The Flash brings a new live-action Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl into the DC realm of Hollywood played by Sasha Calle (The Young and the Restless).
Despite, of course, knowing that she was auditioning for a part in the now-released live-action The Flash movie starring Ezra Miller as the titular DC hero. Calle was unaware that the role she was auditioning for was for none other than Supergirl herself.
Sasha Calle Had No Idea She Was Up For Supergirl
Calle revealed with Entertainment Tonight that she wasn’t even told what the title of the movie itself was. This should come as no surprise to those who know the level of secrecy behind these high-budget comic-book superhero movie adaptations.

“I had no idea what he was saying [reference to Andy Muschietti offering her the role] (…) It was an untitled Warner Brothers movie and the character was a dummy character. Her name was Janna. So they didn’t tell me what I was auditioning for and when I signed the contract, I still didn’t know what I was auditioning for.
I signed the contract and then they called me four days after the testing.”

“Can You Fly?”
The Flash‘s Sasha Calle calls back to the time when she was asked if she could physically “fly” by Andy Muschietti. This was the moment when Muschietti revealed to her that she had successfully gotten the role of Supergirl in the movie.
Calle explained to ET that she wasn’t really sure what the purpose of the question was, other than her initial thought that maybe the It director meant flying via aeroplane.
“He’s [Andy Muschietti] like ‘can you fly?’ and so in my head I was like ‘like on an aeroplane? Do you want me to go somewhere? Like, what’s happening?’ – that’s why it made no sense to me obviously and then he showed me the [Supergirl] suit and it was really really special and really cool.”

Calle stars alongside Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen aka the Flash and Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne aka Batman in Warner Bros. Pictures’ 2023 The Flash movie.

Additional cast members such as Ben Affleck also returning as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, Michael Shannon who reprises his Man of Steel role as General Zod, Ron Livingston who joins as Henry Allen aka the father of the Flash, with Maribel Verdú who stars as Flash’s mother Nora Allen, among many others.
This marks Miller’s first full feature-length solo movie as the Flash on the DC side of things over at Warner Bros. Pictures. It has yet to be confirmed as to whether or not Miller will be returning to the role in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted version of the DC Universe. However, there have been some discussions of the potential behind it.
The Flash is now playing in theatres worldwide.
