Shazam actor Zachary Levi celebrates the Chinese new year in a new teaser spot for ‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’ while also confirming the Chinese release date for the film. In the short teaser, Zachary Levi appears in his full Shazam gear to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, which is the 2023 zodiac sign from the Chinese calendar.
Levi only really appears before the film’s promo to wish everybody celebrating the Chinese new year a happy one, the promo itself then revealed that the second Shazam instalment will be coming on March the 16th in China. This means that the release of the Shazam sequel will be coming out a day before countries such as the USA and the United Kingdom, with China possibly changing their view on certain films.

China Easing Up On Hollywood?
It has been no secret that China repeatedly bans the release of films that don’t quite meet their regulations. Censoring countless movies and tv shows over the years, it seems that they may be a little bit more lenient on certain franchises. Most recently unbanning the films ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and the upcoming Ant-Man threequel from Disney’s Marvel Studios.
China’s strict rules when it comes to movies prevent a big box office project from tapping into a huge audience of cinema-goers, losing out on millions when it comes to earnings. However, maybe the rules are starting to be eased a little, allowing large Marvel and DC franchises to be premiered across the country.
