Shigeru Miyamoto Says Another Nintendo Movie Will Undoubtedly Be Made One Day

Shigeru Miyamoto has reassured his fans that he has “no doubt” that he will make another movie based on a Nintendo franchise after the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, however, the iconic game creator has yet to reveal what’s to come next and if it will be set in the Super Mario Brothers universe.

There are plenty of Nintendo game franchises that could be assumed to be the next feature adaptation to be seen on the big screen in Hollywood, with games such as The Legend of Zelda and the various spin-offs set in The Super Mario Bros. universe, time will only tell which Nintendo game franchise will be the next project to get the Hollywood treatment.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases on May 12, 2023, with speculation that a movie set in that universe will surely be in the cards for an animated or live-action adaptation one day in the future, with the franchise having plenty of source material to work with.

Nintendo fans will just have to wait and see which game will be next to be adapted into a movie, or possibly even a high-budget tv series, with Miyamoto’s latest update providing confidence that development on a project will begin sometime in the nearby future.

It could be safe to assume that a sequel to Illumination and Nintendo’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie could be next on the cards, especially considering the popularity the movie has gained, along with the Super Nintendo World sites being based on the overall franchise.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is currently playing in theatres worldwide.
