Singer and songwriter Madison Beer has revealed that she auditioned for a role in James Gunn’s DC Universe movie Superman: Legacy, a role that many commenters have theorised to be Lois Lane – Superman’s main love interest.
It’s been said in the past that the lead roles in Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie were sought after by everyone in the industry who fitted the description – actor David Corenswet eventually landed the part as Clark Kent aka Superman alongside Rachel Brosnahan who landed Lois Lane.
Madison Beer Auditioned For Superman: Legacy
While appearing on “Say It Or Shot It”, a KISS show hosted by Harriet Rose, Beer revealed the news as well as discussing her experience auditioning for the part.
When asked about a “self-tape” that Beer had mentioned recording in a previous interview, Rose asks the singer “What was the film you were auditioning for?”
Beer responded by revealing that one of her self-tapes was for Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, while also stating that she “didn’t get the part”.
She explained that “They don’t give away too many specifics – especially for a film like that, huge, they kind of keep the character vague – like, they make up something new”.
She added, “I don’t know the actual character I was auditioning for was,” however, it’s safe to assume that Beer’s audition was for Superman’s main love interest and classic DC journalist Lois Lane.
News that Gunn and Peter Safran were going through various self-tape auditions for the two main roles of the next Superman flick had been at the front of all outlets during that period.
It was widely spread that additional casting for the movie wasn’t going to be either announced or potentially even looked at until the film’s two main leads had been found – that now being Corenswet and Brosnahan.
Once Superman and Lois Lane had been cast, additional announcements were made.
Additional cast confirmations so far include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica aka The Engineer.
It’s also been reported, but not fully confirmed, that somebody to play the classic DC villain Lex Luthor is also being looked for – with various high-profile names being reportedly eyed for the role.
