Paramount‘s Sonic The Hedgehog spinoff series Knuckles announced some new casting news today June 14. The spinoff will further explore Idris Elba’s adaptation of the beloved animated echidna.
Elba’s Knuckles debuted in the new live-action Sonic franchise in Sonic The Hedgehog 2. It came as no surprise that a spinoff project was in the works to expand on the already well-established lore of the Sonic universe.
See below for all five new Knuckles cast members announced today listed in no particular order from Christopher Lloyd to Rob Huebel.
Christopher Lloyd
Christopher Lloyd aka Dr. Emmett Brown from Back to the Future was among the new names to be announced for the upcoming Knuckles series.
Lloyd’s character is currently being kept under wraps. It’s unclear as to whether he will be starring as himself or as a voice for a CGI character.
Cary Elwes
Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) joins the first spinoff to the Ben Schwartz-led Sonic The Hedgehog movies. His character has also yet to be revealed.
Paul Scheer
Paul Scheer (The League) has also joined the cast of Knuckles but similar to the previously mentioned new joins, his character is being kept secret.
Stockard Channing
Stockard Channing who ironically starred as Betty Rizzo in the 1978 movie musical Grease alongside John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton-John.
Character details for Channing are also being kept tightly under wraps. Her amazing accent may serve as one of the voices for a CG character. However, nothing has been confirmed other than that she has joined the series.
Rob Huebel
Last on our list but not least is Rob Huebel (The Descendants). Huebel’s character, surprise surprise, is also being kept from us all in the meantime.
When Does The Knuckles TV Show Come Out?
Knuckles was initially expected for a late 2023 release on Paramount+. However, an official release date has not been set yet.
