Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse won’t be out until mid-2023, however, details from the film emerge almost weekly. The film was originally set to release in April 2022, this year, but was delayed due to covid restrictions.
Sony plan on it being released in a completely non-restrictive and stress-free time for fans to watch in theaters. The film itself though is completely finished and ready to be released, hence why details keep leaking to the public. Sony doesn’t seem to mind though as the details usually come from official merch or exclusive events, held by Sony themselves.
New Sony Spider-Verse Merch Details
This news comes from official merch for Across The Spider-Verse being found, revealing a new Spidey variant. The merch itself comes in the form of a pair of trousers plus a shirt, showcasing the new character. The character seen in the clothing is the one and only Spider-Man famously illustrated by John Romita Sr. from Marvel Comics.
Romita’s illustrations of Spider-Man are still considered to be the most iconic versions, still to this day. It looks like we are going to be treated to a Spidey variant who will don the iconic suit.

Who Is Marvel Comics’ John Romita Sr?
John Romita Sr. is an iconic comic book artist, best known for his works on Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man. His take on the Spidey suit became one of the most famously known renditions of Spider-Man, which is still used to this very day.
He worked on many characters with Marvel back in the day but ultimately left the company in the late 1980s. It was rumored that his decision to leave was due to creative differences with the team, Stan Lee, plus Steve Ditko. However, his illustrations have never stopped being some of the best to ever see the light of day.
When Will Across The Spider-Verse Release?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is officially coming out on June 2nd, 2023. Being delayed by over a year from its original release date of April 2022. This film will be the first of two parts, announced by Sony, with the second part aiming for a release date of March 2024.
