2018 was truly the year of Spider-Man. Tom Holland’s webhead made a major impact in Avengers: Infinity War, Yuri Lowenthal’s Spider-Man from the Insomniac games became one of, if not the most celebrated webslinger of all time. The same year, Into the Spider-Verse was released in theaters, which introduced more than 10 variants of the Peter Parker we know.
PS4 Spider-Man Returns
As reported by @DocOckFromCG on Twitter, A new international version of the first poster for Across the Spider-Verse was released. This poster featured many new Spider-Variants, including the Spectacular and Playstation versions of the character.
In the first row, we see both Insomniac AND the Spectacular Spider-Man! This was first reported by Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus back in November.
Not his first ‘Spider-Verse’ Appearance
Even though this is news for many people, Insomniac’s iteration first appeared in the official trailer for Across the Spider-Verse. We see him having a conversation with another unknown variant, while the camera pans out into what seems to be the headquarters of an organization. As explained by director Kemp Powers in an interview with Empire, Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac, will be the leader of a “band of fighters that are trying to clean up the consequences of the collider explosion at the end of the first movie.”
Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to release in theaters worldwide on June 2, 2023.
