Marvin Jones III (Black Lightning, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) is reportedly being eyed to play the live-action Marvel character known as Tombstone.
Jones originally voiced the Tombstone character in Sony’s animated Spider-Man Universe movie Into the Spider-Verse. Now he might be taking it to the next level as The Hollywood Reporter reports he’s being eyed for El Muerto.

El Muerto is a live-action spinoff of sorts also set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The character El Muerto aka Juan Carlos Estrada Sanchez is the son of a luchador who ends up wearing a wrestling mask that bestows him with super-enhanced abilities.
If you’re thinking of Jim Carrey’s The Mask – you’re not far off!
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio aka Bad Bunny (Bullet Train) will be starring as the titular character. The additional cast has yet to be announced by Sony.
Who Is Tombstone In Marvel’s Spider-Man Universe?
Marvel’s Tombstone aka Alonzo Thompson “Lonnie” Lincoln is a supervillain plucked right from the pages of Marvel Comics.
The character is often shown to be an albino man and is a pretty successful crime boss in the heart of New York City. Hence how he ends up tangled in Spider-Man’s webs from time to time due to crossing paths with each other.
Naturally, Tombstone isn’t just a typical Spider-Man villain, he has also come toe to toe with fellow New Yorker and Hell’s Kitchen main vigilante Daredevil.
He was one of the baddies in Sony’s animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and was voiced by Jones, as mentioned above. Jones, similar to Tombstone, has albinism in real life so it seems only fitting he is being looked at to continue his adaptation of the character from the animated realm to live-action.
Keep in mind that Jones has not yet been announced to officially be playing the live-action character. Just that he is reportedly being “circled” by Sony for the role. This could mean a number of things. Multiple actors could be in the running or Jones might just be in early negotiations. We just don’t know quite yet and will have to await further updates from either Sony or a credible source. Stay tuned.
Sony’s El Muerto currently has no scheduled release date.
