Straight from the Daily Planet: Superman: Legacy has found its Jimmy Olsen as well as Eve Teschmacher. Following up on the recent announcement of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, James Gunn’s casting spree flies straight ahead.
The two new additions are set to star alongside David Corenswet’s Superman for the new reboot of the live-action DC Universe, which has already been sparked with the likes of Xolo Maridueña’s Blue Beetle.
Skyler Gisondo’s DCU Casting Details
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Skyler Gisondo (The Righteous Gemstones) has been casted as Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane’s (Rachel Brosnahan) news partner-in-crime, and Sara Sampaio as Lex Luthor’s (Nicholas Hoult) assistant as part-time mistress, Eve Teschmacher.
Gisondo is the newest addition to the roster of live-action Jimmy Olsens, including the likes of Smallville‘s Aaron Ashmore, Supergirl‘s Mehcad Brooks, and Batman v. Superman‘s Michael Cassidy.
Gisondo’s casting as Superman’s best friend has been rumored for several months (in addition to the fan-casting on social media. Well, it looks like that dream has finally come to fruition for fans who are excited about the DCU’s future.
Sara Sampaio’s DCU Casting Details
As for Sara Sampaio, she joins the cast as Eve Tessmacher, the assistant (plus girlfriend) of Lex Luthor. The character was debuted in the original 1978 Christopher Reeve-led Superman film, but made her recent comics debut in Pat McCallum’s Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen (Volume 2) #3.
While not as iconic as some of Lex’s other assistants, such as Mercy Graves, Eve might be seen helping out Lex take down the Man of Steel in Superman: Legacy, though the movie is unclear on who are its main villains.
With James Gunn’s addition of the Authority, through the Engineer (María Gabriela De Faría), in this upcoming film, the events of Superman: Legacy are set to impact the events of the Authority movie, which could also influence future movies and shows on its own.
Alongside David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, and Sara Sampaio include María Gabriela De Faría, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Anthony Carrigan.
