Terry O’Quinn (LOST, The Stepfather) is making the rounds on the web as we speak, with solid rumours being shared that he has been cast as the big bad Major General Beale in The Walking Dead‘s spin-off series currently entitled Rick & Michonne, also known as TWD: Summit.
The news was first reported by a Twitter account, well-known in the TWD fandom, known as @TWDUfilming, an account that consistently provides filming updates for all projects set in the universe franchise of The Walking Dead, an account that has been known for breaking accurate stories to the web in the past, however, this news should still be taking as a rumour due to no official confirmation being made by the cast and crew of the Rick & Michonne series as of the writing of this news article.
O’Quinn is best known for his role as John Locke in the iconic television series entitled LOST, a character who is prominent throughout the entirety of the show, with a performance of a lifetime that would easily justify why he would be cast as the big baddie to go up against Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira’s Michonne, the two titular characters.
Who Is Major General Beale In ‘The Walking Dead’?
Major General Beale has only ever been mentioned verbally in past projects set in the universe of The Walking Dead, as he was mentioned during the events of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, a spin-off series that focused on the big bad group known as the Civil Republic, and their menacing CRM, aka the Civil Republic Military, the same group that took Rick Grimes away in a helicopter in the main series.
Beale is by far one of the most sinister villains to ever exist in the live-action franchise, despite not yet being seen on camera, as he is the main leader of the CRM, having the blood of over 100,000 lives on his hands due to wiping out communities far and wide. Pollyanna McIntosh’s Anne, aka Jadis, who appeared in the main series, is one prime example of how feared and respected Beale is, as she never quite seems to know whose side she’s on, due to her allegiance to the evil CRM.
Don’t Forget About Beale Junior
Spoilers for The Walking Dead: World Beyond…
Let’s not forget the fact that Will Meyers’ Mason Beale, son of Major General Beale, has already been introduced to the fans, during the events of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, who turns out to be a bit of a hostage-type during the finale of the final season, which would have most likely left his father with a bit of a grudge against the protagonists of the series, characters who have been speculated in the past to also be starring in the Rick Grimes/ Michonne spin-off series.
It’s safe to assume that Meyers’ Mason Beale, among others from The Walking Dead: World Beyond, will be starring in the new instalment to the overall franchise, McIntosh has already been spotted on set and confirmed to be returning once again, with fans now all excited to see what’s next for all their favourite characters. The Rick & Michonne, aka The Walking Dead: Summit, series is looking to be one of the most anticipated tv projects for 2024.
