Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, also known as ‘The Daniels’ when working as a team, were confirmed just yesterday to be directing at least one episode for Disney and Lucasfilm’s next live-action Star Wars spin-off entitled Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, starring Jude Law.
However, it wasn’t made entirely clear as to how many episodes for the upcoming Star Wars series the two directors would be working on, with the original news stating that it would be “at least” one episode. Thankfully, Daniel Kwan took to Instagram just earlier today to clarify any confusion caused by the original announcement, confirming that Kwan and Schienart only came on board to direct just “one episode” for the series.
Daniel Kwan’s Update
Kwan wrote and posted to his Instagram story “Lol, all of the people @ing us about getting sucked up by the “corporate machine” can chill. These headlines are always misleading.”
“Don’t worry. We aren’t working on a whole series, we guest directed one episode. Jon Watts approached us to do an episode awhile ago (before EEAAO [Everything Everywhere All at Once] even came out). We love Jon, love Star Wars, love learning new tech, we love meeting new cast and crew, and we needed the days to keep our healthcare (!!!) so it was an easy yes.”
“We shot it last year and had an incredible time working with the most talented cast and crew and I’m excited for you all to see it. Our next film will be an original daniels project so you can stop worrying (and stop bothering me about it)”
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is set to premiere sometime in 2023 on Disney+
