Bryan Bertino’s 2008 horror The Strangers is officially being rebooted into a new trilogy and its first look is dropping at this year’s New York Comic Con aka NYCC.
Lionsgate took to social media earlier this month to confirm the news, along with announcing that Deep Blue Sea director Renny Harlin will helm the project.

Interestingly, it seems that the whole trilogy is intended to be released as one big package, somewhat similar to the upcoming John Wick spinoff The Continental.
Courtney Solomon is producing the trilogy alongside director Renny Harlin, both of whom have been announced by Lionsgate to be attending this year’s NYCC.
Confirmed Details So Far
Although it was revealed last year that a remake of The Strangers was in development, updates on its development were close to zero.
It’s clear that work on the project was kept well secret as it seems that the studio is more than ready to debut its first look and schedule it for a 2024 release.
Despite the reveal that a remake was in the works, news that there would be two additional instalments was unknown until the recent announcement.
The trilogy is split into three “Chapters”, with the official titles being The Strangers: Chapter 1, The Strangers: Chapter 2, and The Strangers: Chapter 3.
All of these will seemingly be released within the same year as each other, potentially even on the same day, depending on what they have planned.
What’s The Strangers Trilogy About?
This new remake, or reboot, will focus on a couple played by Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf, Hocus Pocus 2).
It’s detailed that the couple will drive cross-country to begin a new life in the Pacific Northwest together, however, their car breaks down in Venus, Oregon, where they’re forced to spend the night in an isolated Airbnb.
During their stay in the Airbnb, they are terrorized from fust until dawn by the horror’s main antagonists aka strangers wearing masks who torment for fun.
The Strangers Trilogy’s NYCC 2023 Panel
Lionsgate’s official social media pages for the upcoming project posted on September 8 that their NYCC 2023 panel would be on October 12 at 3pm.
3pm in New York’s timezone, just to be clear.
As aforementioned, director Renny Harlin and producer Courtney Solomon will attend the panel along with debuting the first look which will most likely be an exclusive trailer for the upcoming trilogy.
It’s currently unclear if the exclusive first look at The Strangers Trilogy will be shared publicly, but we’ll be sure to let you all know as soon as we find out.
