Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira’s The Walking Dead spinoff series The Ones Who Live now has an official release window as AMC revealed at tonight’s New York Comic Con the series will premiere in February next year.
Along with the release window also came the official NYCC teaser trailer, filled with brief but new footage of the upcoming series, including a very bloodied-up Rick Grimes who appears to be as angry as ever.
The Walking Dead fans last saw Lincoln’s Rick Grimes in the main series when he was left for dead before being whisked away in a Civil Republic Military helicopter, the same people who have held him, prisoner, ever since.
The Civil Republic or CR/CRM for short have been a prominent antagonist group in the overall franchise these past few years, making appearances not only in the now-ended main series but also in spinoffs such as World Beyond and Fear the Walking Dead – something that has long been thought to be heading toward a larger crossover in the future.
Regardless of what the future holds for the franchise, one thing’s for sure, and that is that Rick Grimes and Michonne will be one step closer to finally reuniting starting in early 2024 as the series premieres.
