We all know and love Disney’s The Princess and the Frog the adorable animated movie that came out way back in 2009.
Well, we’re about to get some more action from down on the bayou in late 2024 as Disney introduces Tiana and friends to us in a new light via a log flume ride – right in the Magic Kingdom in Florida! (as per Disney Parks Blog).
Splash Mountain Reimagined
It was with a bittersweet tone that Disney announced that Splash Mountain, a Disney Park staple attraction, was going to be closing in May of 2023.
Splash Mountain became a fan favorite when it opened in 1992. The ride featured characters from the 1946 film Song of the South – a quite controversial film.
Still, this ride held a special place in fans’ hearts, and a lot of people were crushed when Disney revealed plans to replace this classic ride with a newly “imagineered” (that’s Disney terminology for “engineered”), Tiana-themed log flume.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – Details, Concept
Tiana’s ride will feature the same track layout as the original Splash Mountain – a log flume. However, with new songs, characters, and animatronics, this ride will stand out from its dated predecessor.
The concept is quite fun – Tiana is hosting a Madi Gras celebration and needs help from us, the riders, to complete her meal!
Familiar faces will be seen throughout, including Prince Naveen and our beloved alligator friend Louis, as well as some new ones.
When Does Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Open?
The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride is scheduled to open in late 2024 as of now, but big projects like this are always subject to change.
We will be following this ride’s development as more is revealed, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!
