Tom Hardy who has played iconic toughies such as Bane from The Dark Knight Rises, Venom, Bronson, and countless others, has just surprised everybody. Hardy, who recently turned 45, has just turned his 2011 MMA movie ‘Warrior’ into a reality. He has now added winning a Brazilian Jiu-JItsu tournament in England to his impressive list of achievements, proving that he really can be a tough guy if he wants to be.
However, he competed by using his real name which is Edward Hardy, not Tom.
The Brazilian Jiu-JItsu tournament was held at the Ultimate Martial Arts Championships, and everybody was surprised by Hardy’s appearance. Some may have even assumed he was just researching a role, which wouldn’t be too surprising considering his past methods. Either way, Hardy managed to walk away with a gold medal, coming first in his Ultimate Martial Arts Championships challenge.
Hardy’s opponent, Danny Appleby, mentioned that he told Danny to “Just forget it’s me and do what you would normally do”. Appleby also added. “I’ve done about six tournaments and I’ve been on the podium in every one. But he’s probably the toughest competitor I’ve had – he certainly lived up to his Bane character, that’s for sure.”
