Sandrine Holt (House of Cards, Mr. Robot) has been announced to be playing Vanessa Fisk, wife to Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin played by Vincent D’Onofrio, in the 2024 MCU series Daredevil: Born Again. The Hollywood Reporter revealed on March 10 that Holt will “indeed be playing Vanessa Fisk, the wife of Fisk.”, leaving no room for speculation as THR confirms the character will be that of Kingpin’s wife.
Michael Cuesta was also revealed in the same announcement article to be directing the very first episode of Daredevil: Born Again, with credits such as Dexter and Homeland under his belt. Filming for the series officially took place in Yonkers, New York this week and will be heading to Harlem, New York next Monday with new set images already emerging ahead of the March 13th Harlem filming start date.
“Vanessa” Fisk Recast For ‘Daredevil: Born Again’?
Ayelet Zurer portrayed Vanessa in the Netflix-Marvel adaptation of Daredevil, which starred returning cast members such as Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, and newly added Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. However, Sandrine Holt has seemingly taken over the role of Vanessa, this time around officially becoming Vanessa Fisk as opposed to Zurer’s Vanessa Marianna.
Holt and D’Onofrio are around thirteen years apart in age, so it would have been a long stretch to assume her version of Vanessa Fisk would be a child of Kingpin, with THR confirming Holt will indeed be Fisk’s wife. Sadly, no other details on Holt’s casting were shared, just the revelation of who she will be portraying in the MCU Disney+ series for Marvel Studios.
Michael Gandolfini will also be starring in the series, with speculation from the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom that he will be portraying Wilson Fisk’s son in the series. However, no official announcement from the cast and crew of Daredevil: Born Again has been made as of yet on who Gandolfini will be playing. If the speculation becomes a reality, Holt will most likely be portraying his mother just as it was told in the comics adaptation of the characters.
Will Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Meet Daredevil Again?
Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, and his family were also a heavy part of the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse movie, with the MCU possibly heading toward a similar route. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, was the first official character from the MCU to interact with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock with hopes from fans that there will be more connected storylines between the two characters.
Cox has been vocal in the past on how he would love to see his version of Daredevil team up with Holland’s Spider-Man within the MCU, telling MTV UK in 2015 exactly how he would like to see it go down.
“I’d love to see Peter Parker and Daredevil hang out, there’s a wonderful (…) issue, in the comics, where Matt Murdock has to defend Daredevil, and because the public don’t know [Daredevil’s Identity], he has Peter Parker put on his Daredevil outfit so that he [Spider-Man as Daredevil] can sit in the docks”.
Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ during Spring 2024. This is subject to change.
