Sony almost broke the internet on September 17 when posting an edited video to TikTok featuring clips from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3 and Tom Hardy’s Venom movies.
The edited clip featured Hardy’s Venom fighting Topher Grace’s Venom, however, the Spider-Verse company quickly deleted it with zero explanation as to why. This immediately left fans to begin theorising that they are teasing a big crossover for Venom 3.
The now-deleted TikTok video originally posted by Sony was interestingly captioned with the text “When Venom Met Venom”, see below for details and to watch the edit.
Is Sony Teasing a Venom-Verse Crossover?
Spider-Man fans will be familiar with Sony’s clever way of keeping secrets, but revealing just enough hints that provide small ounces of weight to fan speculation across the internet.
Such as when getting Andrew Garfield to blatantly lie to Jimmy Fallon about a leaked image from Spider-Man: No Way Home, that featured Garfield’s return as the Amazing Spider-Man.
Although Garfield claimed he “wasn’t the werewolf” on countless occasions, the leaked images and videos very well ended up being true, which left fans theorising that Sony themselves may have been behind some of the “leaked” stills and footage from the movie.

Regardless of how Sony’s marketing team came up with ways to get Spider-Verse fanatics hyped up for future projects, there is still zero explanation as to why an edited Venom v. Venom video was posted and even less explanation as to why it was deleted shortly after.
See below for the original video posted by Sony thanks to the official Culture Crave account on X/ Twitter, the 30-second video may just be teasing something multiverse-related, who knows?
In the cleverly edited video, Grace’s Eddie Brock aka Venom says “Yeah, I know all about you,” with the edit then cutting to Hardy’s Eddie Brock replying with “I’ll be right with you.”
The edit then cuts to shots that make it seem as if the two Venom variants are fighting each other, potentially hinting that fans will get to see a live-action Venom-Verse which may have been the larger set-up in regards to Hardy’s No Way Home cameo.
It’s also fair to assume that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will also be getting his own Venom symbiote suit due to Hardy’s Venom leaving a piece of his symbiote in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Could Sony be building toward a Venom-Verse-focused movie before diving further into the Spider-Verse? Technically the two are one of the same, but it would be hard to say no to a battle royale involving various Venom variants.
Sony’s Venom 3 is currently expected to be released in October of 2024.
