Netflix revealed the takeover themselves via their official Top 10 Most Popular TV (English) list as seen on their website.
This leaderboard represents the current most popular Netflix TV shows and is now measured by the number of views the show has.
Despite Stranger Things 4 having more hours viewed, Wednesday has now been crowned the number #1 spot due to having more overall views.

This is a newly introduced metric system by Netflix that sorts the rankings now by “views” which is calculated by the total number of hours viewed divided by the show’s total runtime.
The ranked list has now been extended from 28 days to 91 days. These new changes instantly knocked list items around.
Such as Wednesday taking over Stranger Things 4, among other changes.
Which Netflix TV Show Is Most Popular Overall?
Despite Wednesday and Stranger Things currently going toe to toe in the rankings. Squid Game is actually the overall winner and has remained to be for quite some time now.
The South Korean series based on a brutal life-or-death game show of sorts took the world by storm and remains victor in Netflix’s rankings.

DAHMER: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is currently 3rd in the rankings with 1 billion hours views making up 115 million views.
Bridgerton: Season 1 is 4th with just under 1 billion hours viewed and a total of 113,300,000 views, and counting.
The Queen’s Gambit: Limited Series is 5th with just under 750 million hours viewed clocking in around 112 million views.

The Night Agent: Season 1 at 6th with just over 800 million hours viewed making up for a total of 98,200,000 views.
Stranger Things 3 is currently at 7th place with a total of 716,100,000 hours viewed clocking in around 94 million views.
Bridgterton: Season 2 at 8th with just under 800 million hours viewed and an exact 93 million views as per the ranking’s leaderboard.
The Witcher: Season 1 at 9th with just over 660 million hours viewed and a total of 83 million views.
And lastly, The Watcher: Season 1 at 10th place with just under 450 million hours viewed and just under 80 million views.
